In recognition of World Oceans Day on June 8, Manhattan Beach Middle School’s Surfrider Club is celebrating a year of environmental advocacy, student leadership, and community impact.

Founded by sixth grade science teacher Mr. Leonard, the club empowers students to take action through sustainability projects including restaurant partnerships to reduce single-use plastics, beach cleanups, tree planting initiatives, and maintaining the MBMS garden.

Their work demonstrates how student voice and action can create meaningful change both on campus and throughout the community!
